Bookish is a bright and inviting used bookstore located at 14 Madison Avenue in Skowhegan. Owned by Bjarni Brown and Dave Witting, the shop offers a thoughtfully selected assortment of used books across a variety of genres, along with stickers, mugs, totes, knickknacks, and other creative finds.
The shop’s playful details make every visit a little different. Customers can browse near vintage arcade games, discover a custom LEGO model of Bernard Langlais’ Skowhegan Indian sculpture, and explore a book selection that continues to grow in response to local readers’ interests. The back of the building is also home to Comic Shop News, Dave’s weekly print and digital publication serving comic book retailers and fans.
Bookish generally opens two weekends each month, often coordinating its schedule with community events and the Skowhegan Farmers’ Market. Current hours are posted on a typewriter in the shop’s front window and shared through its Instagram account.
